You can check the release version by starting up the SALT program and selecting "About SALT..." from the Help menu. The release version is displayed in this window. After the service pack has been installed the release version will be changed to 9.0.4.

Warning: Be sure to install the correct service pack - either Clinical, Research or Instructional. Installing the wrong version will result in the program functioning incorrectly. Service Pack 4 includes all the fixes from the previous service packs plus the following fixes and enhancements:

  • Added Cut/Copy/Paste/Undo/Redo options to the right click menu.
  • Fixed the problem, introduced with service pack 3, where transcripts were not being cut when compared to database transcripts.
  • Fixed the problem in the Profiler menu where the option to select the database was sometimes not available.
  • Fixed the problem when editing the root identification files (RIFs) with resizing the files.

Service Pack 3 fixes and enhancements:

  • Added the "Skip all" command when identifying word roots using the Identify Roots option in the Edit menu.
  • Fixed the problem with nested parenthetical remarks and mazes.
  • Removed warning #3 indicating missing context, gender and age plus lines.
  • Fixed the problem with including/excluding error codes when printing the transcript.
  • The Discourse Summary is no longer included as an option for narrative or expository samples. Also removed the discourse variables from the Transcript Summary report for these samples.
  • Fixed the Standard Measures report to zero out values when there is no second speaker.
  • Added the opening window when SALT starts up with the New and Open options.
  • Added the ability to use the Language plus line value to determine the current language setting.
  • Changed the default setting for Spanish transcripts so specific word lists would be included in the Profile report.
  • Spanish samples: changed Clitics to Bound Clitics and assume only clitics attached to words are marked with the plus sign. Removed Utterances with Clitics value from the Transcript Summary and from the Standard Utterance Lists.
  • Research version: added an option to the Generate Word List tool to include/exclude words with specific codes.
  • Research version: fixed the problem in the Generate Word List tool resulting from word counts exceeding 30,000.
  • Research version: fixed the problem with the Rectangular Data File tool to produce the missing data identifier when plus line labels are found without values.

Service Pack 2 fixes and enhancements:

  • Fixed the problem with Spanish transcripts where stand-alone clitics were incorrectly identified as unintelligible words.
  • Added the "Reset from transcript" option in the header dialog box. This option copies the header information from the current transcript.
  • When beginning a new transcript using the header dialog box, only those plus lines are included for which values are specified. Previously, the CA, Gender, and Context plus lines were always included.
  • Added "hm" to the default list of filled pause words.

Service Pack 1 fixes and enhancements:

  • Fixed the default transcript and report fonts to initialize to 10 point regardless of the computer or operating system. This corrects the problem on some computers where the report font is too large to print correctly on the page.
  • Added a utility to the Edit menu for calculating current age (CA).
  • Added a utility to the Edit menu for calculating the subordination index (SI) composite score based on the occurrences of SI codes found in the transcript.
  • Added a utility to the Edit menu for calculating the narrative scoring scheme (NSS) composite score based on NSS plus line values found in the transcript.
  • Fixed the calculation for comparing floating point (non-integer) plus-line values within the Profile menu.
  • Fixed the "Save as default" option for saving the plus line values within the Profile menu.
  • Changed elapsed time to be estimated from the time of the entire transcript not just from the closest timed segment.
  • Unintelligible words with bound morphemes (e.g., X/ing) are now recognized as unintelligible.
  • Fixed the "Other Speaker Questions" count when the $ speaker line contains the third speaker zone (those speakers that are to be ignored).
  • Fixed the calculation of time for timing lines using the format "hrs:min:sec:hundredths" and "hrs:min:sec.frames" to properly round the values of hundredths and frames.
  • Fixed the word and code list specification in the Explore menus involving the following specification formats: 1) "word;=;word" where the same word is used twice, and 2) "=abc & abcd" where "abc" represents the same text on both sides of the ampersand.
  • Edited the Spanish report labels and added the option of Spanish plus line labels.
  • In the Research version, added the option when creating your own databases to specify the default bound morpheme list using set notation and wildcards.
