SALT Training Elicitation

In this portion of the SALT Training, you will learn techniques for eliciting and recording good language samples. The explanations and examples of different language sampling contexts will help you choose the appropriate sampling context.

Elicitation is comprised of three parts:

  1. Basics: suggestions for talking with children; general elicitation procedures and equipment; selecting the sampling context.

  2. Conversation: procedures for eliciting standardized language samples in a conversational context.

  3. Narration: procedures for eliciting standardized language samples in a narrative context.
