Things to notice:
- (And the girl) is mazed because the speaker revised the beginning of her sentence to include the character's name.
- (um a) contains both a filled pause "um" and a repetition "a". To simplify transcription, adjacent mazes should be combined.
- (di*) is a part-word repetition. The asterisk is used to replace the portion of the word that is missing, i.e., - amond.
- (I will) is repeated. Always maze the earlier occurrence and consider the last occurrence to be the successful production.
- Punctuation note: unlike traditional grammar, the quotation mark precedes the period at the end of the utterance. In SALT, the ending punctuation ( . ? ! ~ > ^) must be the last character of the utterance.
